The race

About the Toulouse Marathon

Toulouse's marathon is now part of the Harmonie Mutuelle Toulouse Métropole Run Experience, a big running weekend around All Saints' Day with a 10 km, a half marathon, a marathon relay and children's races. A Toulouse marathon was first held in 2007; after a four-year break, the current event began in 2024, and the 2025 edition drew 37,000 entrants across all races.

The marathon, called the Marathon des Géants, runs along the Piste des Géants, the historic airfield runway at Montaudran, as well as through the centre of the Pink City. With places capped at 7,500 and few real hills, it suits runners looking for a large, friendly autumn race and a course that rewards steady, even pacing.

Course

The Toulouse Marathon course

In 2026 the start is on Boulevard d'Arcole, a few minutes' walk from Place du Capitole, and the finish on Boulevard Lazare-Carnot, so the race is effectively one large loop from the city centre. The organisers list Place du Capitole, the Canal du Midi, the Piste des Géants at Montaudran, the Cité de l'Espace, the ENAC aviation school, the Oncopole and the Île du Ramier among the places on the route. Total climb is about 217 m, so the course is mostly flat. The detailed map and GPX file are on the official site, and the organisers note that the route can change depending on permits or roadworks.

Race-day weather

Early-November mornings in Toulouse are usually cool, around 5-10°C at the 8:00 start, often dry but sometimes windy with the vent d'Autan, or wet.

For this course

With a 1 November race, your long runs fall in September and October, usually in pleasant conditions once the summer heat has passed. The course is mostly flat, so focus on steady marathon-pace blocks and long efforts on the road; one weekly session on gentle hills is enough for the rises. Race morning is usually cool, so plan layers you can shed. Aid stations every 5 km serve tap water in reusable cups, so practise drinking from a cup or carry your own flask.
